About the Role

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Commute to main office, with occasional alternative travel arrangements required due to client commitments.
  • Responsibilities encompass various tasks, including but not limited to:

o Conducting audit work, involving audit planning, setting up tests, and reviewing audit files.

o Assisting in audit completion, both independently and as part of a team, utilizing CCH automated audit software.

o Handling SME company accounts in line with FRS 102/FRS 102 Section 1A.

o Reviewing and participating in the preparation of management accounts.

o Preparing and reviewing sole trader/partnership accounts.

o Managing tasks related to corporation tax and reviewing VAT returns.

o Client development and advisory activities.

  • Gathering necessary information for the preparation of corporate tax returns.
  • Collaborating with and reporting to other members of the Accounts and Audit Team.
  • Contributing to the team's ongoing development and assisting in various aspects of portfolio management, including time costs, billing, and recovery rates.

Requirements of the Role

  • Seeking a candidate who is either ICAEW or ACCA qualified (or a finalist), possessing a minimum of three to five years of experience in general practice within a small to medium-sized firm.
  • Demonstrated audit expertise encompassing planning, fieldwork, and completion acquired over a period of three to five years.
  • Proficiency in auditing and account preparation is essential. The interview will assess competency in audit planning, testing, and completion under ISAs.
  • Prior involvement in accounts, bookkeeping, and management accounts.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with team members.
  • Strong academic background, at least to A level or equivalent.
  • A team player with a positive, client-focused attitude.
  • Computer competence is a must, with a familiarity with CCH Accounts Production, CCH Audit Automation, Xero, Quickbooks Online, and MS Office products, especially Excel.
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, and communication skills, with proficiency in spoken and written English as prerequisites for employment.
  • Capable of working with high accuracy within specified deadlines.
