About the Role

Our expanding team in Guildford dedicated to accounting and outsourcing is currently in search of an experienced Accounts Senior. We require a candidate with a strong background in preparing accounts in accordance with UK accounting standards and a solid grasp of International Accounting Standards. This position is a replacement for a departing team member.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Prepare financial statements for a variety of entities, including sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, groups, charities, and academies.
  • Create year-end working paper files and support auditors during their processes.
  • Generate monthly or quarterly management accounts, including posting accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and payroll journals. Prepare control reconciliations and analytical review schedules.
  • Maintain and reconcile clients' accounting records, which includes bookkeeping, data processing, and addressing client queries.
  • Compile VAT returns.
  • Collaborate with clients on their premises, utilizing their computer systems.
  • Communicate with bookkeepers and directors to prepare accounts and discuss outcomes.
  • Assist in training and supervising junior staff members.
  • Attend other offices in London as necessary.
  • Responsively handle general client inquiries and delegate them to the appropriate person for resolution when needed.
  • Actively promote the firm as reputable and explore opportunities for acquiring new clients.
  • Collaborate with partners and colleagues to provide a personalized, professional service that benefits both clients and the firm.

 
Requirements of the Role

  • Successful completion of at least 5 GCSEs or their equivalent, with a focus on Mathematics and English.
  • Possession of a degree or an equivalent level of education.
  • ACCA/ACA qualification is a prerequisite.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accountancy practice is mandatory.
  • A strong understanding of accounting standards is a must.
  • Experience with consolidated and Charities’ accounts is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in using CCH Accounts Production and Xero Software is advantageous.
  • Strong IT skills, especially in Excel, are required.
  • Ideally, the candidate should have a valid driver's license and their own vehicle.
